Description

In the history of the Gutterscape, in a time not long past, some decades ago (time passes strangely in the Gutterscape), many prodigals were excited about a new land that was being explored -- The Spires of Shadow. A party of explorers, surveyors, cartographers, spies, musicians, and mighty fighters was dispatched into this land by Queen Glory determine its value, and to map out its borders. Deep within the Spires of Shadow, however, they discovered that they were not alone! A Resident called Epikroadis met them beneath the spires, and all were slain. At the mere presense of Epikroadis, their flesh was turned to black, and they dropped dead upon the ground.

Epikroadis was a giant wormlike beast made of clay. At the highest point of the spires, the rocks were jagged and sharp, and when they cut flesh, the destroyed it with a shadow power from within. Epikrodis was born upon the spires, and when he was birthed, he fell upon a jagged stone which pierced his heart. Since he was made of clay, and not flesh, he was not killed, but a piece broke off within his heart, and stayed there, lodged within him in the clay, where it gave him terrible pains. The wound outside closed up, but within the agony continued, unceasing, until Epikroadis could neither sleep nor eat (though he was immortal).

Epikroadis was able to project this pain and death from within his wicked heart, and this is how he killed the surveying party who had come to the spires of shadow. Others were sent to seek out the fate of the first party, but they were killed as well. Still others followed, and met the same fate. Queen Glory felt great sorrow, and ordred that the lands be closed off -- not to be visited, for the danger within was very great.
