The two sides of Drew

I guess most of you must be wonedring, "where has Bernard been, and what is he doing?" well the fact is that, in my family a bad thing has happened, there has been a death of someone who was young, my nephew Drew. He was thought to all to be a "good kid" who just respected his parents, was active in his youth group, and he played the guetar. Seemed to me like he was as good a kid as there could be. However, two months ago, he was driving while "under the influence", a side of him that no one in the family know about, and he got into a drunk driving accident with another vehicle, and was killed instantly on the impact. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to the hospital, where he died the following morning. His name was Steve He was the dad of a family.

Anyway, a big part of what has made this death so tragic is that not only have we lost good young drew, but we also have to contend with the fact that he had this "seceret life" of irresponsible partying, that we have to come to terms with. A secret life that led down the path to death. IT seems like there was a "second" drew who was a different person, almost as if there were two people in the same body, or a person wiht two heads.

Now do not get me wrong, when I was young, I also went through a time of experimentation and rebelllion, and I experimented with some things that were a lot stronger than alcohol, and I am lucky that I got to be where I am today without any real negative permanent consequences of those times, but I feel like he was very younmg, and I just wish that someone would have warned him, that if he was going to experiment and have this "second lifE" that he should be responsible, and not try to drive when he was intoxecated. Last year at thansgiving he had made a joke, and asked if he could have some wine, and he also said that he was going to a party the next weekend. I feel like I should have said something about how to keep it save and responsible.

Anyways, it has been a hard time for the family, so there you have it, that's why.
